We are excited to welcome you to the beautiful city of Heraklion for the DEB2025 School! Below, you’ll find practical information regarding transportation, accommodation, and meals. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us at deb2025.school@uoc.gr
Location
The DEB2025 School & Symposium will take place on the University of Crete campus in Heraklion. The classroom for the school sessions is located within the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (view map).
You will stay at the Irini hotel located in the city center (view map)
Transportation
When flying to and from Heraklion Airport, the easiest way to travel is by bus or taxi. Buses run frequently, with an expected travel time of about 20 minutes. The nearest bus stop to your hotel from the airport is Astoria, Plateia Eleutherias (Liberty Square). Your hotel is within walking distance (400 m) from Astoria . Taxis are readily available outside the airport terminal and near the Plateia Eleutherias area; the ride between the city center and the airport typically takes 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.
For transportation between the city center and the university, you will primarily use the bus. Each participant will receive a card preloaded with all the tickets needed for the event. This includes two daily tickets for the duration of the School and Symposium (if registered for both).
To reach the university, take Bus No. 11 from Astoria, Plateia Eleutherias. Buses run approximately every 10 minutes in the morning, and it takes around 30 minutes to the university. As traffic delays are possible, we recommend allowing extra time to ensure you arrive before classes begin. The university bus stop is Panepistimio, a short walk from the Department of Mathematics.
For your return trip to the city center, take Bus No. 1 or 20 (do NOT take Bus No. 21) from the same Panepistimio bus stop. Your final destination will again be Plateia Eleutherias.
All bus stops and destinations are clearly marked on the maps provided (view map).
Accomodation
All participants will stay in the Irini Hotel. Each school participant will share a twin room with another participant.
